An 83-year-old Alzheimer client, who did not speak English, disappeared sometime during the night. That morning, the caregiver called 911 and advised the dispatcher that the client was enrolled in Project Lifesaver.
A team was dispatched and as they pulled on to the scene, they received a strong signal. The team began to track and within three minutes located the client six houses down from her home and curled up in the back seat of a resident's car.
At the time she was found, the temperatures had already begun to climb above 90, and it was apparent that she may not have survived because of her current health and the rising temperatures within the vehicle.
Simply put, Project Lifesaver saves lives. More importantly, our program allows wandering patients to be found within minutes; instead of the dangerous hours and days it often takes to locate missing persons who lack our technology.
50% of elderly patients who go missing cannot survive a single night outdoors. Our radio tracking technology virtually eliminates the possibility that a patient cannot be found almost immediately.
Project Lifesaver has a 100% save rate.
The program is seven years old. We currently support over 630 agencies in 42 states and Canada. 54 million people have Project Lifesaver coverage in their community. Yet that only represents 18% of the US population.
Our mission is not complete. There are many more areas not yet covered by our life saving program. Many communities still desperately need our help.
We need your help to make a difference in the lives of people less fortunate than us.
This is the website of the Project Lifesaver Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to raise community awareness of Project Lifesaver and to solicit financial support for the program. All donations directly benefit Project Lifesaver International.
